Sacraments

Participating in the Life of Christ

The sacraments of the Church are the embodied Word of God. They are tangible real signs, symbols, and gestures. Just as Jesus is the real, living, and enfleshed "sacrament" of God, so then are the seven sacraments the real presence of Christ in the midst of his faithful people.

The Catholic Church recognizes seven sacraments that have been handed onto the Church from Jesus Christ. These seven sacraments are the principal means by which the disciples of Jesus experience his presence and grace in their lives. The sacraments each gift the faithful with spiritual gifts to participate in the mission of Christ on earth.
